We love the collaboration between Patrick Doyle and Branagh, and 'Thor' is one of Doyle's best scores simply because of its complexity. Doyle himself even mentioned that it was a challenge to find a tone that fit the duality of Asgard and Earth, and we think he found a perfect balance.
This scene in particular is an emotional moment between Loki, Thor, and his father Odin (played by the great Anthony Hopkins). Doyle's musical choices here are brilliant, going from strings to piano, then back to strings. There is a delicate and almost personal touch with the music that narrows your focus on the characters - again, very characteristic of Branagh's work.

We think Shirley Walker's score is insanely good for this awesome animated series that ran from 1992-1995, but the main title track is composed by the incredible Danny Elfman. Anyone who knows this animated series would agree that the show overall was excellent for its thematic complexity, film n...
There is no question that each cue from the score to this film is gorgeous and unique, with this being one of them. "Buckbeak's Flight" is not only just a beautiful theme with sweeping strings and percussion (and don't forget the subtle flute!), but it comes at time when Harry, just for a second,...
